Salsa
Latin dance styles
Salsa is known for its quick, rhythmic movements and sensual style. It's typically a partner dance, but some styles can be danced in a line or with two distinct male and female dancers who dance separately.
Salsa, a vibrant dance form with roots in Cuba, has captivated the world with its infectious rhythms and dynamic movements. This dance, which emerged in the late 19th and early 20th century, is a fusion of various Latin and Afro-Cuban dances, including mambo, pachanga, and rumba, as well as American dances such as swing and tap.
Salsa also features a distinctive hip motion, with dancers stepping on a bent knee to give an earthier look. The dance’s fluidity and expressiveness are further enhanced by the use of rib cage opposition and back muscle, with the shoulders remaining down and parallel to the floor.
Learning salsa can be a fun and rewarding experience. Many dance schools offer classes for beginners, where you can learn the basic steps and rhythms of the dance. As you progress, you can explore more complex movements and techniques, and even try different styles of salsa.
When attending a salsa class, it’s recommended to wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Dance shoes are recommended but not mandatory. If you’re just starting, comfortable sneakers or shoes with a smooth sole work well.

The dedication and patience of the dance instructors
Salsamology is an excellent Latin dance school! The instructors, Sheldon and Shinnel, really breakdown the steps for you and allow you to practise the individual moves before adding to the choreography. Also, they teach you how to look stylish while dancing so that you look more polished. They give you many tips on how to perfect your stance and how to lead (for me ) and how to follow properly as a woman. They teach dance etiquette as well. They are also very passionate about dance and are very encouraging to the dancing students. Sheldon tells jokes sometimes that really keep things light and fun. I’d definitely recommend Salsamology as the place to learn the fundamentals of different types of Latin dance or to build on your moves if you’re not a beginner.

"patience & his expression of his love for dance"
My fiancé & I started taking private classes with Sheldon in preparation for our upcoming wedding. And I must say, after just one class my fiancé went from never having danced in his entire life to being able to do the 3 step and some other basic moves. I was amazed. Thanks to Sheldon for his patience & his expression of his love for dance.
